As a father of three, I’ve already gotten several Father’s Day cards that invoke or are actually cut into the shape of neckwear, and I suspect they’ll be giving me the real thing before too long.
This is one of the few things you can be sure of once you become a dad. I remember buying a tie for my own father, even though he worked as a truck driver and almost never had occasion to wear one. I don’t remember what the tie I bought him looked like, mind you, but I know he wore it when he took my mom out to a dance one night.
If my own kids buy me a tie, though, I might be a bit choosy. After all I have a pretty good collection, even if I don’t break them out very often. These are probably my favourites:
